Times-Union columnist Mark Woods is walking across Jacksonville, the largest city in the Lower 48. When he wanted to cross Atlantic Boulevard on one of his weekly walks, he went to the next light (more than a half mile), pushed the button and waited more than more than 10 minutes for the light to change — and then had 15 seconds to cross seven lanes before it changed again. When he went back to the intersection later, hoping it would be better, it actually was worse.
